Pressrelease

Care to Translate is pleased to announce a partnership with Doctors of the World the Netherlands (Dokters van de Wereld), a renowned organization providing essential healthcare services to marginalised populations. The partnership will see all medical and mental health professionals at Doctors of the World the Netherlands utilizing Care to Translate’s medical translation app, with the first implementation already underway in The Hague, where a mobile clinic serves undocumented migrants.

Doctors of the World the Netherlands has long been committed to providing culturally-sensitive care to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Previously, the organization used other translation tools, but there were worries about data handling and quality of translations was not ensured. The Care to Translate app, which offers reliable medical translations in over 45 languages, has been identified as a more effective solution for bridging their communication gaps.

Heleen Koudijs, MD and Coordinator of Doctors of the World’s programs in The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht, explained the value of the new partnership: “We have an exemplary function in the Netherlands because we work with people with a migratory background. Offering culturally-sensitive care and also offering the right care is super important to us."

"Patients have a right to information and should have quality health care, regardless of  language barriers. Care to Translate is an opportunity to overcome language barriers and to talk to our patients and clients.”

Maja Magnusson, CEO of Care to Translate, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration:

“We are excited to partner with Doctors of the World the Netherlands. By integrating our app, we hope to support their medical staff in delivering high-quality care to patients who face language barriers, ensuring they receive the right treatment at the right time.”

With this partnership, Doctors of the World the Netherlands aims to enhance the quality of care for marginalized populations by providing healthcare professionals with a reliable and efficient tool to communicate with all patients and clients, regardless of the language they speak. This partnership is one of four collaborations between Care to Translate and Doctors of the World, with branches in Sweden, Belgium, and Canada also using the app to support their services.
