Pressrelease
Since the outbreak of war in Ukraine in February 2022, millions of people have faced unprecedented humanitarian challenges. Ambulance for Kids was born from this crisis, providing life-saving medical evacuations for over 100 children so far, thanks to supporters like the German foundation Ein Herz für Kinder (A Heart for Children).
By joining Care to Translate’s multilingual platform, the organization will now have access to medically accurate translations, making critical medical communications possible for children and their caregivers across borders.
Founded by Marc Friedrich, Ambulance for Kids operates with a dedicated team focused on relocating children from Ukraine to intensive care units in other countries, where they can receive the professional treatment Ukraine is currently unable to provide. Through its integration with Care to Translate, Ambulance for Kids strengthens its ability to serve children and families in distress, ensuring that medical teams can communicate effectively regardless of the language spoken.
In addition to medical evacuations, Ambulance for Kids conducts a wide range of critical activities, all of which are donor-funded and free of charge to parents, clinics, and authorities. These activities include:
Maja Magnusson, CEO of Care to Translate, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership:
"We are deeply moved by the work Ambulance for Kids is doing to help children from war-torn Ukraine receive the medical care they so desperately need. Partnering with them allows us to contribute to this essential mission by making sure that language never stands in the way of life-saving treatment."
Marc Friedrich, Founder of Ambulance for Kids, emphasized the importance of communication in their mission:
"Our goal is to ensure that every child we transport has the best chance of survival and recovery. By using Care to Translate, we can make sure that doctors, nurses, and families understand each other in the most critical moments, no matter where they are from."
The Ambulance for Kids team brings with them extensive experience in neonatal and pediatric intensive care, air ambulance services, and emergency response, including:
Their Pediatric Medical Intensive Care Unit (PMICU) is equipped to handle the specific needs of children requiring intensive care, with up to 12,000 liters of oxygen, ventilators, specialized monitoring, and other essential equipment designed for the safe transport of neonates, infants, and adolescents.
This partnership will enhance the ability of healthcare professionals to communicate effectively with children and their families fleeing the war, ensuring that language barriers do not impede access to vital care.
Care to Translate is a digital translation tool for healthcare professionals, providing medically accurate translations in over 45 languages. Our mission is to eliminate language barriers in health care, ensuring patients and professionals can communicate clearly in any situation.
