Looking back at 2024, we can see a clear trend of more and more healthcare providers searching for digital tools to complement their traditional translation services. Tools that can facilitate communication when the interpreter isn't around or can't be reached fast enough. And tools that can ensure increased patient safety, as well as complying with personal data laws and regulations.

For our year in review, we want to take a closer look at how all these healthcare providers, professionals, and patients have used our app to overcome language barriers.

Let's take a look at some achievements from 2024 that you all collectively made happen.

Wow! That is nothing short of amazing. As we see it, we are all tearing down language barriers in health care, one translation at a time.

Questions were this year's most used type of phrase. And it's no surprise to see a phrase on the topic of pain top the chart.

Pain is a subject that is universally important throughout health care, and we can see that reflected in 2024's most translated phrase "Are you in pain?". Our nr 1 is closely followed by asking about allergies and whether the patient knows where they are.

Collectively, you had over 84 000 translation sessions in the app. That's amazing!

A session can be viewed as a conversation happening between a healthcare professional and a patient. It can be long or short with one or several translations. And this is what makes Care to Translate such a good tool for patient communication. With the app, no conversation feels too short to ensure proper translation support.

So what languages did healthcare professionals feel they needed help to communicate in? Well, English is always a safe bet to communicate with a lot of people. In Europe, the war in Ukraine is a topical issue and it shows in the usage of the Ukrainian language for translation in our app. Arabic, Spanish and Finnish also all place in the top of the most used patient languages.

Our yearly rockets are Finland and Germany. Both showing a great increase in usage during the year. Germany has been particularly fun to follow as the number of translations has increased by ~23% per month.

And lastly, who won the translation league? Well, Norway is a clear winner when it comes to which country that made the most translations during the year.

Since our roots are in Sweden, it's no surprise that our home base comes second in this list. But it's really nice to see that app has gained so much traction in the US, Finland and Germany!

Which country is gonna win this spot next year? Time will tell. But as for 2024, we're so proud of these achievements. Let's go into 2025 with the continuous mindset to tear down even more language barriers in health care.
